About Charlie

I'm a pragmatic idealist on a mission to make the world more fun, fair, and interesting. I grew up in my parents' bookstore in Houston, Texas and now I help them run it. I studied to be an economist in both undergraduate and graduate school. I lived in China for three years between undergraduate and graduate school. I taught and performed improv comedy for almost ten years, though I’m less active now. I have been a clinical professor teaching students how to be better consultants and coaching small business owners since 2020. Since 2022, I write essays and fiction at Castles in the Sky on Substack, and make videos across multiple platforms about my writing, teaching, and bookselling across multiple platforms.
